I bought this sound bar for my brother. IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE. I had low expectations, as I knew it would be a far cry from a multi-speaker system, but it still let me down. The sound is much worse than the built in TV speakers. Sure it’s louder, but comes with lots of mud. And the simulated surround sound just sounds like standing in a long echoing hallway…with the TV all the way at the other end.

This product works as advertised with a great big caveat: It’s not a good match for Dish TV.
Specifically, I wanted to buy an aftermarket sound system to work with my Vizio VX42L television (which lacks variable audio outputs) and my Dish TV receiver. My goal was to have a single remote control govern power on and off, volume up and down, and channel up and down, as my wife won’t use a remote control that requires operation of anything more complex than that.
There IS a way to map a device like the Soundbar as an AUX device on the Dish learning remote and then to have the remote control the Soundbar’s volume rather than the television’s. To do that, Vizio only would have had to provide a three-digit remote code. However, Vizio chose not to do so. (It does provide four- and five-digit codes for use with other remotes.) Further, the Dish TV’s “search code” function did not recognize the Soundbar. As a result, we need to use two remote controls (one to change channels and the other to control volume) when using this product with Dish.
Since no one wants to add ever more remote controls to the collection, especially just to control volume, this unit is a non-starter with Dish, and buyer beware if you want to use it with a Dish setup. If you are not a Dish user, it probably will meet your needs, with decent sound for a decent price. I disagree with the reviewer who said that the sound is muddier than the original set, at least when the original set is Vizio’s VX42L, which sounds pretty muddy itself.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my husband. After giving it to him, we set it up and it worked fine that night. The next day we tried to turn it on and it would not work. I followed all the troubleshooting tips in the manual then called the manufacturer. The tech there ran me thru another test then said ” well this one is bad for sure, we will send you another” He advised that I would receive a shipping label with the replacement and would ship the bad one back with that. So after a week with no new sound bar, I called back, and was asked if I had shipped the old one back yet. I advised that I was told that I would be sent one and would get a shipping label to send the bad one back. I was then told that was not the “policy” and I had to send the bad one back to get a replacement. I told them I had a problem with that as I had not purchased from them and it was thier product that failed in 24 hours, AND their tech said that a new one would be sent. To make a long, miserable story short, I got a replacement thru Amazon, with no issues, they sent me a new one, I printed a shipping label and returned the bad one. The customer service at Vizio is appalling, and I personally will never purchase another product soley based on the experience I had over 2 weeks with thier so called “customer service department” They tell you one thing, and then say another when you call back. When you ask them to call you back with a decision, you get no call back. When you do call them back to see why you did not get a call back, you suddenly get a callback 20 minutes later from someone else. Thier products may be ok, but thier staff are substandard and not worth dealing with.

I’m very disappointed in Vizio’s sound bar w/sub-woofer, the sound is not consistent, the remote doesn’t work well at all, it’s easier to just get up and adjust on the sound bar itself of which you need a flashlight to see which button to push since the lettering is dark. Not to mention it took 3 times for Vizio to send me replacement because the sub-woofer didn’t work. I bought it because of the reviews that were written, I wish I had never bought.
