As the other reviewer noted, the sound was adequate. I found that the background noise, which was almost like what you would get if you turned the volume up all the way on a speaker system but had no sound being piped in from the audio source, was too irritating to put up with. Tack that on to the month long ordeal it took to actually get Amazon to return this, and I was left with a very dissatisfied buying experience.

I chose this soundbar setup due to its relative simplicity and compact size, as well as the low price. Until fairly recently, it performed adequately, and as the other reviewer noted, the richness and depth of sound it provides is far better than any built-in television speakers. However, from day one I felt it produced too much background noise – not a big deal at high volumes (just a steady static/hissing noise), but more than a little annoying at lower volumes. For the past two weeks or so, the hissing became more of a buzzing, and is steadily worsening. Initially I thought it was the optical inputs, so I switched to AUX and the noise is equally bad. The buzzing seems to originate in the subwoofer, and is passed along to the soundbar through the 8 pin cable. In any case, it has gotten to the point that the excess noise outweighs any benefit the system originally provided. I should also note that it bears an appearance of something cheap and old-fashioned compared to most modern A/V components.

I have been very pleased with the RJ_Tech 4000SB soundbar.Crisp highs and more than adequate bass. This system is easy to hookup and provides a vast improvement over the speakers in your flat screen TV. For anyone that does not want to run wires all over the room the soundbar offers a great alternative. The remote gives you the advantage to adjust the level of each speaker individually and it has a master volume control.
