This is a great unit but at $400, it is criminally overpriced. Buy this if it ever goes down to $199.
When will these manufacturers learn to price realistically…

The DirectTV remote switches back and forth from TV to the DirectTV converter box; very fast; so fast that it doesn’t allow time to control the Boston sound bar speakers properly. I use my TV remote to control the speakers in conjunction with my TV speakers. My LG TV controller workes properly with the Boston sound bar and my TV speakers simutaniously. My LG has a front surround built in so I set the level I want with it and manually adjust the Boston sound bar at the bar controls to the level to support it; then they both are controlled simutaniously by the TV sound button. The problem is forgetting and using the DirectTV remote sound level button and screwing up the sound balance. The subwoofer is hiden behind our love seat and works fabulously; you can’t tell where the sound is comming from.

Why is there such a large after market on refurbished Boston Acoustics TVee units? Are these being returned for defects or by dissatisfied costumers and being sold basically as used items?
I like the idea of the TVee — I am not looking for a surround sound system and only something to clip on to my 42″ plasma — but the after market concerns me.
Also, does anyone know if this comes with mounting brackets to clip on to the top or bottom of the flat screen display?

This product performs as expected with one exception: The infrared sensor for the remote requires me to be closer to the unit than my seating position allows. Other than that, it is excellent. It has great sound, increased bass, and generally improves the entire viewing experience.
It is not surround sound, but if you are researching and paying attention you already realize that. If you did not already realize that, you have serious comprehension problems and do not understand what I have written anyway.

I had a misadventure with a Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer for around $250, which is home theater for people who don’t know anything about home theater. That was an expensive purchase, and it did not allow me to use my four other channels. I ended up sending that one back. Do not buy if you want true home theater.

I bought the TVee sound bar. I realized after I bought it that my TV only has an optigal digital audio out and the TVee unit only has RCA inputs. It was fin when I just had it connected to my DirecTV box, but I’d also like to connect my DVD. So be aware of this if you plan to use more than one device with your TV.
